March is here, which means it is time to sow some cold-hardy vegetables.
Here is the list of my favorite cold-hardy plants to direct sow in my garden in March.
1. PEAS
I LOVE PEAS! There are so many varieties and so many pretty variations I cannot resist planting peas.
2. CABBAGE
Cabbage is another cold-loving veggie I love to plant at the end of winter. They do amazing in the cold and will be ready to harvest just in time to plant your summer veggies.

3. RADISHES
Radishes are an absolute favorite of mine to grow (not so much to eat haha). Radishes grow super fast (30ish days) and come in tons of flavors and colors.

4. Kohlrabi
Kohlrabi is a very under-rated cold-loving veggie. It tastes similar to a broccoli stem and is delicious, raw or in stir-fries.

5. Broccoli
Broccoli loves the colder weather and does great this time of year. If planted now, broccoli will be ready to harvest just in time to plant your summer veggies.
6. Lettuces/Greens
This is the perfect time of year to plant your cold-hardy greens and lettuces/
Mustard
Arugula
Spinach
Red Romaine
Kale
7. Herbs
There are so many herbs that love the cold weather that you can plant out this time of year.
Thyme
Mint
Parsley
Chamomile
Lemon Balm
Lavender
Oregano
Sage
Chives
Catnip
Just remember when you are planting and growing in colder temperatures your plants will grow and germinate slower. Once spring hits they will take off!
Check your weather forecast for some sunshine and direct sow these seeds. They will do just fine if you get more frosts and snow before spring truly arrives so long as they have some nice weather for germination.
You can also plant out starts at this time if that is your preferred method of growing.
HAPPY GARDENING!
